And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge an all discernment, that you may approve the things that are
excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.                                                                  Philippians 1: 9&10

There was a bug in the system that measures the air quality in Calgary. Literally.
A spider crawled inside the instrumentation at one of three monitoring stations, causing the machinery to give inaccurately high readings that the air quality of the smokey skies over Calgary required "a very high risk warning". This would indicate that even healthy people might experience various physical irritations because of the smokey conditions.
The numbers for the days prediction reported on the government websites was a ten; which is a "very high risk," when in reality the number should have been a 4 or "a moderate risk."
Southern Alberta - but especially Calgary - was experiencing smoke-filled skies that week because of wildfires burning in the northwestern U.S. and British Columbia. Of course there would be an expected change in the air quality reading, but not to the degree of what was reported.  Because the personnel were experienced in their field, they realized that something was amiss and an investigation of the instruments revealed the source of the faulty readings.
The last thing I read was that they were still having trouble getting the spider out!
As God continues to awaken the Church in Canada to pray for the upcoming elections; may we be aware of inaccurate reports that can distract us from how the Holy Spirit is leading us. Ask the Lord to reveal and remove the little things that could hinder us or cause us to not to 'see' report and respond accurately in prayer to what the spiritual 'reading' truly is.
We have been contacted by a number of Christian candidates requesting prayer. They all indicated to us that they have answered a call from God to run.  Please remember to uphold all those from the household of faith. A Christian representation in the House of Commons is essential. We have been asking God to set apart those who are called to these positions.
Opportunities abound to join in times of prayer for the election in your church or community. Be sure to find out what's happening in your area, or initiate one yourself.
Don't zone out, short sound bites on the news won't give you an accurate reading about the issues and the candidates knowledge of them; or what affects your riding.
Pray that many people will attend all candidate events to hear what they have to say and how well they answer questions.
Many Christians are volunteering for candidates or are training to work with Elections Canada. Pray that they will preform their duties with excellence.
Pray that Canadians will be able to detect any hidden bugs in media stories that could project an inaccurate report.
There are currently 7 people who have committed to come to Nhop this September.
Our goal is for twelve people to join us to establish a beachhead of prayer in Ottawa for these important Federal Elections.
These 12 will be engaged in a specific 3 month assignment to intercede and become further equipped for intercession for the coming days in Canada. These individuals will receive instruction to help lead the various prayer watches as well as gain valuable experience as they participate in our prayer missionary program:
  • Training in leading others with a burning heart of intercession
  • One-on-one training to further develop your personal prayer life
  • Receive equipping and impartation by various Canadian leaders
  • Instruction in how to lead prayer in your local church or city H.O.P.
  • Developing your Christian World-View
  • Contributing to the communication of prayer directives to the Church of Canada
Prayer at Nhop continues on Tuesday evenings. If you live in the city of Ottawa you are welcome to join either one from 7-9pm at 17 Myrand Avenue.

In response to being told not to speak of Jesus, the disciples replied:

"But one thing we can tell you, we cannot possibly restrain ourselves from speaking about what we have seen and heard with our own eyes and ears."

"Now is not the time for the Church of Canada to fall into a corner of silence!"  - Rob Parker
This book is written from a non-partisan perspective and seeks to present a biblical position on voting and to emphasize some important issues that Christians need to be reminded of in Canada.
The cost is $5.00 and our goal is to get this resource into as many hands of Canadian Christians as possible.

This book is also available in the French language.

Many people feel too overwhelmed and perplexed about whom to vote for, but I encourage you to take the time to acquaint yourselves with the candidates.

  • Pray for a change of heart towards our civic responsibilities, apathy is not acceptable.
  • Pray for pastors and leaders to bring exhortation and biblical teaching that encourages believers to participate in political process.
  • Pray for those who are still considering whether to let their names stand and/or where nominations are still pending.
  • Pray that God would raise up godly, competent, humble men and women of integrity who sense the call to serve as Members of Parliament.
  • Pray for Canada to continue to be a strong and free nation for our children and grandchildren, and that God would have dominion in the hearts of the people "from sea to sea."
